I've been at the Museum sooooo long - longer than many of our interns have been alive. I do a little bit of everything as part of my job: care for the animals, work with the keepers and other staff, spend time with guests. Lucky me!
I spend a lot of time behind-the-scenes, or here after hours, but if you really want to see me, you'll have to sign-up for a behind-the-scenes program.

QuikPost: Name that Bird.

November 28th, 2012

Here’s a quiz: What bird is in the photo?  ( Also, what native bird species is this bird related to and where in North Carolina was this photo taken)

  1. Nene.
    Canada Goose relative.
State bird of Hawaii but the picture may have been taken at either Sylvan Heights (Scotland Neck) or the Zoo in Asheboro. Probably Sylvan Heights.

you should ALWAYS go with Ranger Greg when it comes to bird questions.
    He’s absolutely right.
Everyone who loves birds should take a visit to Sylvan Heights Waterfowl Farm!
